Art Clubs
How they work:
- Join a Group: Collectors can either gather a group of like-minded friends or be placed in a new group curated by GBAA
- Governance & Structure: GBAA provides the suggested structure and constitution to ensure responsible management and governance of the buying collective
- Duration: The typical duration of a buying collective is between 6 to 10 years
- Pooling Funds: Members pay an annual subscription, which is pooled to collect artworks on behalf of the group
- Constitution & By-laws: The group operates under a constitution and detailed by-laws, outlining the collection strategy, management, and rotation of artworks is supplied
- Member Engagement: Members rotate through the 'executive committee' to engage in decision-making, research, and financial management of the club
- Art Events & Knowledge: The club/group meets regularly throughout the year to discuss art, attend events and enhance their knowledge while continuing to grow the collection
- Final Acquisition: At the end of the club's term, the artworks are valued and exhibited as a complete collection. Members then auction the collection internally and have the opportunity to acquire their favorite pieces based on their equity in the collection
